Mid-term vacancy for LMC committee member to represent the constituency of Wychavon.




Start date: February 2025 (Term of office ends on the 31st March 2025)


This vacancy has arisen as a result of a current representative resigning due to ill health during their term of office.


In this instance our constitution requires us to proactively advertise the vacancy with a view to discussing expressions of interest and co-opting a GP representatives onto our committee to ensure that all 6 constituencies within our county are adequately represented.


Whilst the co-opted period of office will only be for 2 months prior to the elections for this constituency. This will allow the co-opted member to stand for election as a current member.


The LMC is the only independent body whose primary role is to promote and protect the interests and welfare of all GPs working in the County.

If you are keen to contribute and influence change in general practice, then why not represent the GPs in your constituency.


Responsibilities:


A full job description is available upon request but the main commitments of the role are listed below:


  1. Have a sound knowledge of General Practice contracts.

  2. Maintain knowledge of local policies and issues affecting their constituents.

  3. Be aware of national issues affecting the whole profession and their impact locally.

  4. Respond promptly to all communications, including emails, whether from the LMC office, constituents, or other organisations.

  5. Agree to represent the Committee in an area of expertise if reasonably requested to do so.

  6. Accept key responsibilities in defined areas where they have specialist knowledge, if agreeable.
